Engineering better railing systems since 2003 — from a small Utah fabrication shop to one of North America's most trusted railing brands.
Fortress Railing Products was founded in Midvale, Utah in 2003 by a team of structural engineers and deck contractors who were frustrated with railing systems that required field cutting, custom fabrication, and code interpretation guesswork. The founding principle was straightforward: engineer a complete, pre-tested system that contractors could install with confidence and pass inspection the first time.
Our first product, a steel post-and-infill system for elevated decks, earned early adoption from Utah and Colorado contractors working on mountain-area properties — where wind loads and snow accumulation demand structural integrity that off-the-shelf hardware cannot guarantee.
Over the following decade, Fortress Railing expanded into aluminum alloy systems for coastal markets, cable infill configurations, and eventually the full seven-line product portfolio that contractors and architects specify today across 22 countries.
Fortress Railing Products, Inc. incorporated in Midvale, Utah. First FE-series steel railing system introduced to Mountain West contractors.
The AL13 aluminum alloy system introduced for coastal and humid-environment markets. First distribution agreements established with Southeast US lumber dealers.
Fortress horizontal and vertical cable infill systems launched in response to demand from architects specifying view-preserving railings on high-end residential and hospitality projects.
FE26 and AL13 systems receive ICC-ES evaluation reports, streamlining code compliance documentation for commercial projects in jurisdictions requiring third-party verification.
Two new product lines added to meet growing demand for contemporary infill styles in urban multi-family and high-end residential markets.
Fortress Railing products now distributed in 22 countries through 380+ certified installers and regional stocking distributors.
Every system is load-tested and documented before distribution. We believe contractors deserve proof, not promises.
Our products are refined through feedback from the installers who use them daily — not just engineers who design them in theory.
We document every load rating, ICC-ES report, and compliance standard so your projects pass inspection the first time, every time.
The FE26 system incorporates 26% post-consumer recycled steel content. All aluminum systems are infinitely recyclable at end of life.
