- What's the view? If the project overlooks something worth looking at (a lake, a cityscape), cable or glass is a no-brainer. If it's facing a brick wall, save the money and go with standard pickets.
A pro tip for your installation: If you're doing a stair railing, make sure the post spacing meets your local building code. It's usually 4 on-center.
